After earning a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan, Akiko moved to California and began work as a graphic designer in the apparel industry.

Years later, Akiko has started to work as live sketch artist and attended many events. Her clients includes GUCCI, MIUMIU, Fendi, Jimmy Choo and more. . Akiko also work as a fashion illustrator and has worked with numerous companies/brands including ELLE Magazine, Anthropology and LA Times to name a few.

akrDesignStudio
in late 2014, Akiko launched akrDesignStudio and start selling variety of goods using her own illustrations, such as greeting cards, art prints, notebooks, planners, keychains and more. Her line is now selling more than 200 stores worldwide including Anthropologie.

Akiko was chosen '22 stationery designers to shop' by Domino magazine, and her work has been featured in magazines and blogs such as Fox 21 News, Stationery Trends, Collective Hub, Her Campus, Mollie Makes, JJ Magazine etc.

神奈川県横浜市出身。女子美術大学グラフィックデザイン専攻。

大学在学中に友人と行ったアメリカ旅行でカリフォルニアに住みたいと渡米を決意。大学卒業後すぐにロサンゼルスへ。最初の数年は英語を学びつつ地元大学でイラストを学ぶ。その後会社勤めを経てフリーのデザイナーへ。

イラストレーターとして多くの会社（LA Times、 カネボー、エル、 JJ等）にイラストを提供する傍、2014年にグリーティングカード、ギフト小物ブランドakrDesignStudioを立ち上げる。５種類のカードから始めたブランドも現在は100種類以上のカードデザイン、手帳やキーホルダー等多くの商品を展開している。現在はアメリカで人気のセレクトショップAnthropologieを含む全米とヨーロッパの200以上の店舗で商品が取り扱われている。

又GUCCI, MIUMIU, Fendi, Jimmy Choo 他ブランド店舗のイベントやファッションショー等に招かれ、その場でゲストのポートレイトを描くライブスケッチアーティストとしても活躍中。

2023年より地球の歩き方 カリフォルニア特派員としてイラストと共にロサンゼルス生活を紹介中。
